Last night the Dallas Stars hosted the Minnesota Wild in game 1 of their best of seven series which finished as a 3-2 win in double overtime for the Wild.
During the game, a controversial play happened where Matt Dumba delivered a late hit to Joe Pavelski, which sent him hard to the ice and forcing him out of the game:
This hit by M. Dumba on J. Pavelski went from no call, to major, to a minor after huddles and reviews. One of the worst parts of the playoffs is the fear of making a call too consequential to the game.
Many people were sure that Dumba would be getting a suspension for this, but Greg Wyshynski broke the news that that's not the case:
News: @NHLPlayerSafety will NOT have a hearing for @mnwild defenseman Matt Dumba after his hit took @DallasStars center Joe Pavelski out of Game 1 last night.
Source tells me it was considered "close to being late, but within allowable window." Dumba was given a roughing minor.
