The NHL once again made a controversial and much critiqued move by banning players from using pride tape on their sticks, but many fans believed it was only a matter of time until players ignored the rule.
A veteran defenseman
On Saturday's game against the Anaheim Ducks, Travis Dermott, a veteran defenseman for the Arizona Coyotes took the first step, with pride tape attached to the shaft of his stick, rather than the blade which many are used to doing.
Unsurprisingly, the NHL, shortly after the game concluded released a statement about Dermott, claiming that the use of the tape is under review.
We will review it in due course.
Most rational fans see the ruling as a ridiculous one, as allowing players to show off their personality and beliefs is a good thing on the ice, but knowing how they've handled the situation so far, this will be interesting to see what they decide.
