The Chicago Blackhawks have completed the first step in their rebuild as they have traded forward Brandon Hagel to the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for what is expected to multiple first round picks.
Hagel is currently in the 1st year of a 3 year contract which pays him $1,500,000 per season. The 23-year old is in his 3rd NHL season and has put up 21 goals and 16 assists in 55 games this season, while playing all 3 forward positions.
This move looks very similar to the moves made by Tampa Bay when they added Barclay Goodrow and Blake Coleman before winning back-to-back Stanley Cups.
