Well, the team fell apart early and when they announced that Kyle Davidson was going to be the new General Manager, he stated that the Blackhawks would be tearing down and going into a rebuild, and he's kept to his word. So far he traded away two-time 40 goal scorer Alex Debrincat and 21 year old former 3rd overall pick Kirby Dach, and let Dylan Strome and Dominik Kubalik walk in free agency for absolutely nothing. So the Blackhawks are completely starting fresh.
Which brings us to superstar Patrick Kane and where he sees himself with the rebuilding Blackhawks. Kane has spent his entire hall of fame career with the Hawks and helped them win 3 stanley cups in 6 years. Kane has 1 year remaining on a contract with an AAV of $10,500,000 and if this contract is going to be moved, the Hawks will definitely need to retain some capital. Kane is turning 34 this year, but he is still producing at a superstar pace, which begs the question if he would want to stick through this rebuild or move on and continue to try and win a stanley cup.
According to Frank Seravalli of The Daily Faceoff, the Edmonton Oiler were inquiring of his services, but they were told that he had no intentions at the moment of waiving his no trade clause.
Kane apparently wants to remain with the team for now and re-evaluate where his head is at come the trade deadline, where he could move to a contending team.
Kane has already been linked to the New York Rangers, Colorado Avalanche and Edmonton Oilers during this off season all of which would be incredible to see him work his magic.
