Rumours about Phil Kessel's return to the NHL this season have been circulating for weeks. Previously, it was reported that Kessel had been evaluating a couple of different teams who were seriously interested in signing him. Now, it appears he is getting close to making a deal. According to TSN's Chris Johnston, his return could happen at any moment, and he has already been close to getting a deal done in the last few weeks.
It's hard to imagine that Kessel would go the entire year without a contract. His desire to play is too strong, and he would be the perfect fit on the bottom six for many NHL teams around the league.
Kessel has a Stanley Cup pedigree with a proven ability to mesh in almost any locker room. It's only a matter of time until we hear which locker room that will be this year.
