Yesterday, the Lightning and the Canucks faced off in Tampa Bay. The two teams were in completely different positions going into the game. The Bolts' top goalie, Andrei Vasilevskiy, was sidelined, and the Canucks' netminder, Thatcher Demko, had been on fire in the last few games.
However, the Lightning's firepower is hard to contain. They ended up winning 4-3 in a tightly contested game.
During the second period, tension rose to another level.
Mark Friedman, who was traded to the Vancouver Canucks by the Pittsburgh Penguins earlier this week, played his first game with his new team yesterday against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
To make a great impression on his new teammates and organization, the 5'11", 185 lb defenseman challenged Tanner Jeannot, the Lightning's 6'2", 220 lb enforcer, to a fight.
Here's the video:
Friedman certainly knows how to get Canucks fans to like him!
