John Tortorella's Antics Result In First Round Pick Requesting Trade
John Tortorella is a coach with a very strong personality and some players cannot handle it. Now it seems one young Flyer may be on his way out of Philly because of him.
Frost On His Way Out?
Frost was picked 27th overall in the 2017 draft. While his development has gone decently since then, he seems to be in John Tortorella's dog house as he has been healthy scratched five games in a row. This comes despite his strong performance last season in which he put up 46 points in 81 games.
Reportedly, teams including the Canadiens and the Senators were interested in Frost over the summer but the Flyers were asking too much for him. Now his value is declining and he isn't contributing to the team thanks to his coach.
"Tortorella's praise of Frost - even when he was playing his best - came off as grudging ... he didn't seem like he was ever fully sold on Frost."

As Frost continues to be scratched his trade value continues to decline. Flyers GM Danny Briere could have a tough time getting decent value for him if this trend continues. At the same time though, Frost is only going to become more disenfranchised by the team the longer he sits in the press box which could hurt future contract negotiations or even lead him to formally request a trade.
I think at the beginning the Flyers were telling the kid, 'patience, patience, patience.' (But) man it's tough to be patient (when you've been a healthy scratch five straight games)... To see this, you can understand it for a game or two, but not for five in a row.
I do think teams have started kicking around on this, saying 'ok, what's going on here?' ... But as of (now), there's nothing really enticing for them.
