Lou Lamoriello Proves No One Is Exempt From His Rules, Not Even NHL Legend Patrick Roy

Lou Lamoriello has always been one of the more interesting figures in the NHL. He is the oldest general manager in the league and some of his rules seem to make sense for someone of his age. Rather famously, all Islanders players and staff are required to shave every day. Today we learned that there are truly no exceptions to this rule.

Roy Confirms Lamoriello Makes Him Follow Facial Hair Rule

Yesterday, the team made a major move as they replaced head coach Lane Lambert with NHL legend Patrick Roy. The move came as a surprise to many as there were not really any indications that a coaching change would be imminent on Long Island.

Today we learned that even NHL Hall of Famers are not exempt from the general manager's rules as Patrick Roy addressed the media for the first time as head coach of the team sporting a new clean-shaven look.

Traditionally, Roy has had a beard going back to his coaching days with the Colorado Avalanche. He personally confirmed that his shaving the beard was not his own choice, but rather Lou made him do it.

That being said, he didn't seem to be too upset about the change. Hopefully, Roy can muster the Islanders back into playoff form as they are currently out of a playoff spot, but not by much. Improving their overtime performance alone could get them across the finish line. That being said, we will just have to wait and see what Roy can get out of his new players.

As seen on Lou Lamoriello forces Patrick Roy to bend to his rules on Day 1.
