Gavin McKenna was the Medicine Hat Tigers first pick in the WHL draft this past year and made his debut with the team over the weekend, and did not disappoint.
In his first game with the team he managed to record 4 points, which is incredible for a 14 year old playing against 19 year olds.
This young future NHL star will be eligible for the 2026 NHL Entry Draft, and so far, his future is looking bright!
WHL 1st Overall Pick Gavin McKenna had quite the debut posting 4 assists as a 14 year old 😳
The Yukon native McKenna was drafted 1st overall in the 2022 WHL Draft and due to his late birthday, is still 14 years old. The Medicine Hat Tigers may have gotten real lucky with this one.
LW McKenna isn't NHL Draft eligible until 2026 because of his late birthday, but will likely be a top prospect in that draft and another potential top 5 pick from the WHL.
