It's safe to say that yesterday's loss will be remembered by the Bruins for a long time. After a record-breaking season, they failed to eliminate the Panthers, who had 43 points less than Boston in the regular season.

The players in the core of the Bruins are getting old, and this was considered by many to be the last chance for Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci to win a Stanley Cup. This only makes things worse.

Brad Marchand made a statement that highlights the emotional component of the game, after a long season and tireless efforts.

Marchand Points the Blame After Game 7 OT Loss

As reported by Joe Haggerty, a writer for Boston Hockey Now, Brad Marchand blames himself for not capitalizing on game five:

Brad Marchand said not scoring on the breakaway at the end of Game 5 is "going to stick with me forever": "That was my moment, and I didn't capitalize on it."

Professional athletes give all they have to their sports, and moments like these haunt them for a long time. This could have ended the series right away, but Sergei Bobrovsky got the last laugh.

Even if you don't like Marchand, you have to admit that this is sad for the Bruins, especially considering that we may have seen Patrice Bergeron's last game in the NHL.

As seen on Hockey Feed - Brad Marchand blames 1 player for the Bruins failure to advance.
