We are currently deep into the 2023 Stanley Cup playoffs, and it has undeniably been an incredibly entertaining season. The NHL consistently strives to engage fans by sharing various statistics and posts to keep the excitement alive.
However, numerous fans recently noticed a post that appeared to mock the Buffalo Sabres. Today, NHL.com shared a tweet presenting the Active Playoff Goal Leaders By Franchise.
Naturally, Alex Ovechkin claimed the top spot with an impressive 72 goals, followed closely by Sidney Crosby with 71 goals, and Brad Marchand securing the third position with 53 goals. The list continued with other notable players and their respective goal tallies.
What struck fans as amusing was the fact that the Buffalo Sabres found themselves in last place on this list, with defenseman Tyler Myers credited with a mere 2 goals. The humor lies in the fact that Myers hasn't been a member of the Buffalo Sabres since 2014.
Nevertheless, Sabres fans need not despair, as their team is inching closer to a potential playoff return, which may very well happen as early as next season.
