When the Vancouver Canucks finished last season the way they did with all the ''Bruce there it is'' chants and finishing on a 100+ point pace, many believed they would be in the playoff race this season, but after a horrible start they are currently sitting second last in the Pacific, and it doesn't seem like anyone in the organization is happy.
Despite some of their top players producing, this team just cannot seem to get in the win column.
Captain Bo Horvat has 14 goals in 17 games, Pettersson has 20 points in 17 games, Miller has responded and now has 10 goals and 16 points in 17 games and Quinn Hughes is averaging over an assist per game. The big boys are producing but the wins still aren't coming.
Keeping star players in a Canadian market has been hard and the slumping Vancouver Canucks are about to feel that pain. Bo Hovat the teams captain is on the final year of his deal which walks him right into free agency as a UFA. At 27 years old and on pace to put up career highs in every scoring category, he is set to make a significant raise from his $5,500,000 cap hit as well.
There has been a bit of a contract dispute trying to re-sign Horvat and according to Craig Button, he doesn't see a new Horvat contract getting done in Vancouver.
Button was on the Donnie & Dhali show and revealed:
"Horvat's done. It appears to me that Bo Horvat, he's done and he's best served going somewhere else."
"The criticism that we've heard about Bo Horvat and the contract negotiations is that he's a player that's going to be on the move."
