Over these past few years, one major concern of players, coaches and fans has been officiating. For years they've been accused of being biased, and today something was announced that adds a whole new level to it.
At the time of writing, the Montreal Canadiens are hosting the Carolina Hurricanes, and when the NHL announced the officials for the game tonight, it sparked some controversy.
One of the referee's is the famous Wes McCauley, and the other is Carter Sandlak. Nothing sounds controversial about this right? Well, thats until it was announced that Sandlak was once part of the Carolina Hurricanes.
How it started... How it's going:

Fans did not take well to this:
The former professional player retired in 2018, and achieved his dream of finally making it to the NHL, just not as a player.
