In 2021, the New York Rangers used their 16th overall pick to select Brennan Othmann who was playing over in the Swiss league for Olten EHC due to COVID-19 shutting down the Ontario Hockey League.
Othmann was very close to making the Rangers this season out of training camp, but ultimately the Rangers decided another year of Juniors would be best for his development and returned him to the Flint Firebirds in the OHL.
To start his season with the Firebirds, Othmann had 11 goals and 13 assists in only 16 games.
It was announced yesterday that Othmann was dealt from the Firebirds to the Peterborough Petes:
BREAKING: The Petes have acquired @NYRangers first round pick Brennan Othmann from the @FlintFirebirds in exchange for Artem Guryev and three Priority Selection picks The Petes are hoping to compete for a Memorial Cup this year with their star lineup, so this will be a good move for Othmann.
