The Philadelphia Flyers had a very poor season last year and when into this offseason with the determination to be a much better team this season.
It all started with bringing in a new veteran experienced coach, which they did just that with John Tortorella.
So far it has been a vast improvement for the Flyers this season, they are currently holding a 6-3-2 record and have the third best points percentage in the Metro division.
One thing that is well known with Torts is that he expects the best out of his players, and if he is not getting it, he is not afraid to sit them.
This star defenceman who the team acquired via trade on July 23, 2021, has now gotten on the wrong side of Tortorella and finds himself a healthy scratch.
Rasmus Ristolainen is a healthy scratch for the #Flyers tonight against Ottawa.
Ristolainen, 28, has been one of the worst players in the NHL analytically this season. He has no points through four games played.
He is in year one of a five-year, $25.5M deal.
Ristolainen was a great offensive defenceman in Buffalo, often putting up 40+ points, but he just hasn't found his groove in Philadelphia.
