REPORT: Pia Salming provides HEARTBREAKING update on Borje Salming
A Toronto Maple Leaf legend and Swedish legend Borje Salming is currently battling late stages of ALS, which has left him with limited mobility and with the inability to speak.
Recently, he was in Toronto to be honoured by the Maple Leafs, where they gave him an incredible ceremony and one of the most heartwarming moments of the year.
When he returned to Sweden, Borje and his wife Pia agreed to do one more appearance with the Swedish Hockey League. Pia was accepting an award on behalf of Borje and she let everyone know this would be the final time they're making a public appearance:
We're not doing this anymore
This announcement brought many people in the crowd, including some NHL legends like Nicklas Lidstrom and Peter Forsberg to tears. Borje's ALS continues to progress rapidly and at this time they would like to just focus on their family matters back home.
