Predators defenseman Tyson Barrie appears to be on his way out of Nashville after GM Barry Trotz gives him permission to talk to other teams about a potential trade.

Barrie To Be Traded By Nashville

The Nashville Predators are known for being a defensively-minded team and a team that is able to develop many top defensemen. Amongst those are Roman Josi, Mattias Ekholm, Ryan Ellis, Shea Weber, and many more. Currently, they have offensively-minded Tyson Barrie on their roster but it appears like it will not be for much longer.

Elliotte Friedman reports the following:

There is word today the Nashville Predators have given Tyson Barrie permission to talk to other teams. Barrie is expected to be a scratch vs the Rangers and is a UFA after this season. This allows team and player to see if there is a better fit elsewhere

Through 22 games this season, Barrie has scored 0 goals but has helped out on 9 others. He is also a -5 on the season.

A Potential Home For Barrie

Throughout his career, Barrie has played for Colorado, Toronto, Edmonton, and most recently Nashville. He was moved to Nashville in the middle of last year as a part of the Mattias Ekholm trade.

Barrie has proven that he is able to flourish the most when he is on the powerplay having scored 20+ powerplay points six different times throughout his career.

With one year left on his contract, he could be moved to a team that is struggling with their powerplay and he could emerge as a powerplay specialist for his next team. Ideally, he could be moved to a team with a good powerplay as is but if he is moved to a team that does not have a powerplay QB, he could be the piece that puts it all together.
