Recently, insider Eklund of HockeyBuzz.com dropped some massive news regarding the future of Tyler Myers and the Vancouver Canucks.
Eklund lists four teams interested in Myers and it is intriguing that a player as inconsistent as Myers is garnering so much interest. On top of being inconsistent, Myers makes $6 million this upcoming season which is quite pricy.
Of the teams listed, each one offers a different fit for Myers. If Myers were to head to San Jose, he would instantly become their number-one defenseman and would showcase his offensive prowess for a potential trade deadline swap.
On Washington Myers would slot in on their second pairing behind John Carlson. While he would not get much powerplay time, he would offer his defensive services alongside Rasmus Sandin.
With Florida, he would be on the top pair for the first half of the season and then move down after injured players like Aaron Ekblad and Brandon Montour. Myers' style would fit perfectly with the Panthers' playoff style of hockey.
Finally, the Rangers offer a unique shot. Myers would probably be a bottom pairing player behind Jacob Trouba and Adam Fox but a sheltered role could be beneficial for Myers. He would not be forced into many uncomfortable situations and would be a guy who could bring some much-needed physicality to the Rangers which lacks in that field outside of Jacob Trouba.
