CBC Broadcaster, Ron MacLean, is under fire once again from hockey fans for what they're referring to as "virtue signaling" during last night's Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Washington Capitals game.
MacLean began the evening with a statement on the state of the world in the wake of Russia's Invasion of the Ukraine. MacLean attempted to insert his own personal opinion on the topic. MacLean went on to defend Ovechkin and his support of Russian President Vladimir Putin, even going as far as to compare Ovechkin to The Dixie Chicks who were scapegoated for their protest of then President George Bush.
Regardless of whether you agree or disagree with MacLean's comments. I think we can all agree it's time for Sportsnet to take their broadcasts in a different direction, like they attempted to do years ago when Don Cherry saved his friend's job.
