Ryan Reaves Shares Some Scary News Regarding His Health
Brad Treliving signing Ryan Reaves to a three-year contract this offseason was just one move that bewildered Leafs fans. Now there are questions as to whether or not he will ever be able to play in the NHL again.
Shocking Health Update For Reaves Revealed
The 37-year-old last played in the NHL on December 14th when he left the game early with an injury. Since then he claims that he has been healthy for 'multiple weeks.' However, a recent report from Sportsnet writer Luke Fox has revealed that that may not quite be the case.
"I have very loose knees. I've torn both knees, like, a ton of times, and I just don't feel comfortable on the ice without them anymore," Reaves tells Sportsnet.
"I've tried taking them off, and my knees are so loose that when I cut, like, to get out of bed the next morning, sometimes they pop out. So, keep 'em on.
"I wouldn't even practice without them."
Reaves May Have Played Last Game With Leafs
This is a very concerning development for Reaves. It sounds like his knees barely function at all anymore. Your knees happen to be a pretty important part of your body when you're a professional hockey player so perhaps the Leafs are correct in keeping him on injured reserve.
The Leafs have not played particularly well lately, but there doesn't seem to be much reason to believe adding Reaves to the lineup would fix that at all. Their problems have largely been in goal, on defense, and the penalty kill. Reaves does none of those things and he doesn't provide any depth scoring either.
What would make Brad Treliving think that signing Ryan Reaves to a three-year deal was a good idea?
I guess you could say the same about Klingberg, Domi, and Bertuzzi.
What a terrible off-season.
All of that being said, Reaves' days in the NHL may be numbered, and it is quite possible he may never play in the league again.
As seen on Reaves makes confession about his health, possible his career could be almost over
