Mat Barzal could be facing some discipline from the NHL after an incident from last nights game vs the Toronto Maple Leafs.
During the 3rd period of the game while Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner stood in front of the Islanders' bench, when Matt Barzal reached out and grabbed Marner's jersey. The grab on Marner's jersey prevented him from getting involved in the play as he wanted (slightly).
For those that don't know there is already a lot of hate between the New York Islanders and Toronto Maple Leafs after ex-Islanders captain, now Leafs captain John Tavares left the Islanders in the offseason a few years ago. The Islanders believed Tavares was going to resign him so they didn't trade him at the Trade deadline and instead watched him walk after 9 years and receive nothing in return.
After the game Mitch Marner made a comment on the play:
Hopefully he gets fined for that, that would be great.
We have seen in the past players get $5,000 fines for squirting water bottles, so it will be interesting to see what this penalty is.
