Toronto GM Candidates Turning Down the Job Due to Brendan Shanahan
With Brendan Shanahan constantly trying to control the Leafs and his presser after the Dubas firing, top GM candidates are not willing to work with him and the Leafs.
GM Candidates Turning Down the Job Due to Brendan Shanahan
Brendan Shanahan's press conference after the Kyle Dubas firing was originally seen as him trying to clear things up with the press but some GM candidates did not see it this way.
On the 32 Thoughts podcast, Elliotte Friedman revealed some massive news:
This is massive news because this takes away top candidates narrowing the pool of candidates down to fewer potential GMs which could result in a second-fiddle candidate.
Is Shanahan Holding Back The Leafs?
Most certainly he is! He is the reason why Dubas is not coming back and now is also the reason why there are people rejecting the Leafs as a place to work. If a star like Auston Matthews leaves in free agency, Shanahan will be the blame because Matthews had a close relationship with Kyle Dubas.
Shanahan has also prevented Dubas from making moves he wanted to make and it appears that Shanahans ego that made him a constant story in the NHL has not gotten any smaller in a front office role.
