Toronto Maple Leafs Rookie Ejected For Dangerous Hit On Teenager
During the Leafs versus Ducks game last night, this Leafs rookie was ejected after delivering a dangerous hit to a Ducks rookie.
McMann Ejected For Boarding on Mintyukov During Leafs-Ducks Game
The NHL is a fast and physical league, there is no doubt about that. It is that speed, though, that can create some dangerous plays around the boards. One of those plays happened last night during the Leafs-Ducks game.
The Leafs' Bobby McMann delivered the hit, which was borderline whether it was on the back or not, to Ducks' player Pavel Mintyukov. The most dangerous part of the hit, though, was where it happened, as McMann sent Mintyukov face-first into the boards.

The hit resulted in a 5-minute major and game misconduct for McMann, ending his night.
NHL Facing Some Criticism After Other Boarding Penalties Not Punished
The NHL is facing some criticism over the inconsistency it has in punishing boarding calls. McMann's hit was definitely dangerous, but borderline on whether it was deserving of an ejection. However, some are arguing that Nick Cousins hit just the other night.
Things got nasty between Jason Zucker and Nick Cousins at the end of the 2nd period tonight 😳 Most of the reaction, at least on the Leafs side, was negative to the call, thinking that it was undeserving of the severity of the call.
"NHL hiring IIHF refs? That's a clean hit. Shoulder to a guy who sees the hit coming & tries to brace it by turning to finish shooting the puck. So McMann gets 5 min for being the stronger guy in the collision? C'mon. Hockey is still a physical game whether people like it or not."
