At the beginning of last season, former GM of the Chicago Blackhawks Stan Bowman did everything he could to try and make the Blackhawks a contender again. He traded for Vezina winning goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury, brought in Norris calibre defenceman Seth Jones, captain Jonathan Toews returned from taking a year off with injury and there was another year of development for young players like Alex Debrincat, Dylan Strome and Kirby Dach. This team improved in every position and it looked like they could be the Blackhawks of old. But unfortunately that did not happen.
When Kyle Davidson officially took over as official General Manager, he decided to take this team in an entirely new direction and begin a total rebuild. They've now traded away Alex Debrincat and Kirby Dach, both for far undervalue. Let Dylan Strome and Dominik Kubalik walk for nothing. But dont worry, they've brought in Max Domi and Andreas Athanasiou.
Since last seasons trade deadline, rumours have been swirling on what will happen with Patrick Kane. Both he and Toews were not thrilled with the rebuild idea, and now seeing the entire team get torn apart, they definitely wont be excited about being on a tanking team next season.
While Davidson said he will not ask players like Toews, Kane and Jones to waive their NTC's, there is definitely some notions that he would definitely like them to. These three could bring in a huge return for the rebuilding Hawks and not having them on the roster would definitely help the team lose some more games to have a higher chance at Connor Bedard in the 2023 draft.
David Staples reports that, according to gambling oddsmakers a Western Conference team is the favourite to land Patrick Kane via trade. Staples put the results of two gambling sites, Sportsbetting.ag and Betonline:
Sportsbetting.ag has the Oilers as the favourites over Colorado and New York.
Betonline also had the same with 3/1 odds.
Oilers +300 (3/1)
Avalanche +350 (7/2)
Rangers +400 (4/1)
Kings +500 (5/1)
Lightning +550 (11/2)
Leafs +600 (6/1)
Sabres +750 (15/2)»
How would a line of McDavid and Kane(s) look?
