Last night the Tampa Bay Lightning hosted the St. Louis Blues in what finished as a 5-2 win for the Lightning.

If you did not stay up to watch the game, the score isn't what people are talking about today. During the game, Blues defenceman Robert Bortuzzo was trying to cut to the net and was bumped by the Lightning's defenceman and ran into Andrei Vasilevksiy.

While I praise the Lightning for standing up for their goalie, it's always the correct thing to do, I always need to shake my head when the reasoning the goaltender was hit was because your own team pushed the player into him, which looks like is what happens here.

You can see Bortuzzo's course change as soon as he was bumped and you can see him put out his arms to try and brace for the contact instead of just plowing him over with his shoulder.

I will never criticize a team for protecting their goalie, but like I said, sometimes you just need to shake your head.
