Edmonton Oilers screw over the Calgary Flames on their way to the Cup Finals
The Calgary Flames had a relatively high pick riding on the outcome of the Edmonton Oilers vs. Dallas Stars series that the Oilers have sabotaged.
During the middle of the season, the Dallas Stars made a trade with the Calgary Flames surrounding Chris Tanev and a bunch of future assets.
Chris Tanev has been traded to the Dallas Stars in exchange for prospect Artem Grushnikov, a 2024 second-round pick, and a conditional 2026 third-round pick.
The New Jersey Devils retain 50% of Chris Tanev's contract in exchange for a 2024 fourth-round pick from the Dallas Stars.
The 2026 third-round pick was dependent on if the Stars made the Stanley Cup Finals, which they did not as the Edmonton Oilers bounced them in the Western Conference Finals.
Now the Flames will not receive as much as they could have for Tanev.
Draft Condition update:
#TexasHockey will NOT send their 2026 3rd round pick to Calgary #Flames as part of the Christopher Tanev trade.
They will now sit at home while they watch their Alberta rivals compete for the Stanley Cup against the Florida Panthers.
