For Perry, this will be his fifth Stanley Cup final. While is is incredible rare for a player in today's era to reach so many finals, that in itself is not really that special. Historically speaking, there are plenty of players that have been to more finals, and certainly plenty that have won more championships than Perry. However, it is a much different league now with 32 teams, making just reaching the finals a major accomplishment. For Perry, this will be his fifth Stanley Cup finals.
The crazy thing is, it will be his fifth finals appearance, each with a different team. Perry won the Stanley Cup with the Anaheim Ducks way back in 2007. He then went on a long hiatus from reaching the finals until the 2020s, when his career took an unusual turn. Since 2020, Perry has made the finals every year except for 2023. It all started when he lost in the finals in 2020 with the Dallas Stars.
It is also noteworthy that while Perry has made the finals with remarkable consistency this decade, he's also lost all of them. Given his reputation and status around the league, many fans are hoping that this trend will continue this season.
