Jamie Benn lands dirty hit on Devon Toews in Stars Vs. Avalanche
Veteran Jamie Benn landed a dirty hit on Devon Toews in the second game of the series between the Dallas Stars and the Colorado Avalanche.
The Stars' captain showed exactly why the Stars must not be taken lightly in the playoffs. Not only are they an extremely talented team, they play a very physicial game.
Benn proved the second point by running over Devon Toews behind the Colorado Avalanche's net. He came in at full speed and hit him on the head with his shoulder.
No penalty was called by the referees for this incident, even if it's clear that Benn hit Toews' head.

There was no penalty on the play.
Some fans expressed frustration on social media about the officials' decision to not call a penalty:
If Jamie Benn hit someone like this in the playoffs while wearing a #mnwild sweater, the NHL would have already held a public execution.

How isn't this a penalty??? #GoAvsGo
Fortunately for Avs' fans. head coach Jared Bednar confirmed after the game that Toews is fine, and also disagreed with the call made on the ice:
Toews is fine. I don't know. It's a physical game. It's a physical player. I don't know. I don't know what to say. I mean does he catch a piece of his shoulder? Yeah I guess you could argue that. But the target is high and it's at his head and he makes contact with his head.
