The NHL once again expanding is almost inevitable at this point, and now Houston Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta has revealed his grand plans.

It's been no secret that along with Atlanta and Salt Lake City, the city of Houston with Tilman Fertitta leading the charge have been looking to bring a second NHL team to the state of Texas. Now, he has confirmed those grand plans on social media, revealing that there's plenty of work to do, but he'll be aggressive in adding another professional team to the Toyota Center, host of the Rockets.

""We would like to work to get an NHL team in Houston," Fertitta said. "I'm working on it."

He added, "I would put an NHL team here tomorrow. This one has got to work. But I'd love to have the other dates in the building.

Do I want to see Toyota Center filled up 300 nights a year? Definitely. We'll do whatever we can do, but whatever we do has to make sense. ... Will we be aggressive? Yes. That's my nature."

Unlike Salt Lake City, Atlanta and Arizona, Houston would have a respectable NHL sized arena, with capacity at the Toyota Center for hockey reported to be just shy of 18,000, much more than the reported 12k that would fit inside the Utah Jazz's arena in Salt Lake City.

As mentioned, there's still so much work to do, and it won't be happening for next season, but don't be surprised if Houston have an NHL team officially announced prior to the 2025-26 season.
