Veteran Vancouver Cancuks forward Sam Lafferty expected to test free agency
Sam Lafferty has bounced around the NHL from team to team, whether that be the Pittsburgh Penguins, Chicago Blackhawks, Toronto Maple Leafs, or Vancouver Canucks, and is expected to look for a new team.
Sam Lafferty has quietly improved year after year establishing himself among the best bottom-six forwards in the NHL. This past year he posted career highs in goals and points with 13 and 24 respectively. At 29 years old, Lafferty is expected to get the biggest payday of his career this summer and will reportedly test free agency.
David Pagnotta reports the following:
Sam Lafferty is expected to hit the free agent market. The Canucks and Lafferty's camp have spoken recently, and he hasn't closed the door on Vancouver, but he seems interested in exploring his options at this moment.
Lafferty will now look towards the open market to see which team pays him the most and which team offers the most term.
The Canucks will search for a potential Lafferty replacement whether that also be on the open market or if it will be internally.
