Evander Kane has been in the headlines quite a bit these past few months, but for once, it's not him making them. Since joining the Oilers, besides a few instances on the ice where he was in a few scraps, he has been relatively quiet and just playing the game of hockey. Which is what we've wanted to see from Kane his entire career.

Since joining the Oilers, he has produced 16 goals and 31 points in 36 games. Not bad for someone only making $1,375,000 (which translates to a $2,108,696 cap hit because he signed after the season began).

Today Kane is in New York City to have a hearing with the NHL over his grievance with the San Jose Sharks and his former contract.

The purpose of this meeting is based on Kane's former contract with the San Jose Sharks, which was terminated by the club for ''breaching AHL COVID-19 protocols,'' which Kane denied ever happened.

The NHLPA has filed this grievance on Kane's behalf and if the NHL rules that Kane was wrongfully terminated, it could drastically affect the Sharks salary cap the next few seasons.
