It was an eventful night for the Vegas Golden Knights, who are the NHL's new Stanley Cup Champions. The team has been crowned cup champs in just their sixth season in the NHL, a feat that is incredibly hard to accomplish. While many storylines were talked about last night, perhaps none were more unappreciated than Bruce Cassidy's.
Cassidy Doesn't Hold Back on Bruins
Moments after becoming a Stanley Cup Champion and getting to lift Lord Stanley for the first time, Bruce Cassidy spoke with the media to discuss his feelings. While Cassidy shared quite a bit, one thing that stuck out was his comments aimed at his former team, the Boston Bruins.
«The Cup is going to the Cape! It's great to be in this club. You're a winner now forever so they can't kick you out so I love that feeling.» - Bruce Cassidy
There's not much needing to be deciphered with Cassidy's comments there. It's clear he still harbors some negative feelings regarding his departure from the club, but it couldn't have worked out better for him in the end.
Worth the Pain
If you had told Bruce Cassidy a year ago that he'd be a Stanley Cup winner with the Vegas Golden Knights, he'd probably think you're crazy. In just under a year, Cassidy was hired as Vegas' head coach and won the Stanley Cup with them.
While getting fired sucks, Cassidy would've never gotten this opportunity had he not been fired by Boston a little over a year ago. One ending opened a brand beginning for Cassidy, and it paid off in an ultimate way.
