The Connor Bedard sweepstakes were a hot topic over the entire NHL for the 2022-23 season, and now, after a solid pre-season, it appears the 18-year old is ready for the big stage.
A hot start
Despite being just the pre-season, Bedard has been electric to start his NHL career, and after combining for five points with Corey Perry in their latest game against Detroit, Blackhawks fans got a little ahead of themselves.
As the team was flying high with the big win, Blackhawks fans were seen chanting 'We Want the Cup', and while the optimism is great, that's still a long, long way away.
A star of the future
After scoring almost 2 points per game throughout his entire junior career, Bedard has come into the NHL with unmatched hype, and it's safe to say that his rookie year will be a fun one.
Through several pre-season games, Bedard has shown speed, skill, elusiveness and everything you'd want in a young player, and if the Blackhawks build around him well, they'll be a team to watch, but for now, it will be a one-man show.
